Where Can I Take Summer School?

Summer School Petitions

Summer school petitions will be open starting March 2nd at 4pm.
Students can only sign up for 10 Credits Maximum during Summer School.
Initial credit petitions will close on May 1st at 3pm.
Credit Recovery/Grade Improvement petitions will close on June 1st at 3pm.
Be sure to submit a transcript from your summer school to bhstranscripts@burbankusd.org upon completion of your course.
Summer School transcripts must be submitted by August 5th.

Initial Credit

Initial Credit summer school is for students who wish to take a class for the first time. Please compete one of the following petitions based on the class you wish to take during summer. (Please complete one of the following petitions below).

Some important things to remember:

All initial credit petitions will close May 1st at 3pm and no further initial credit petitions will be accepted.
Students may only take 10 credits maximum during summer school
Class must be 100% completed, both A and B sections, to receive credit and for class to be changed on schedules.
Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA to register for Initial Credit summer classes.
World History and US History have a student Capacity. If Capacity is reached, then World History/US History petitions will close sooner.

PROHIBITED COURSES FOR INITIAL CREDIT

AP courses for weighted grade point (AP can be taken for no grade boost
AP Classes offered at BHS
Science (Labs)
English, all levels
Government/Economics
Math (exception: geometry)
World Languages

Credit Recovery/Grade Improvement

Students can retake certain courses if they received an F (Credit Recovery) or a D (Grade Improvement) in a semester course. (Please complete the following petition below)

All credit recovery/grade improvement credit petitions will close June 1st at 3pm and no further petitions will be accepted.
Students may only take 10 credits maximum during summer school
Class must be 100% completed, to receive credit.

SPED Credit Recovery

Students with an IEP can retake courses if they received an F in a Basic or Fundamental class. (Please complete the form below.)

For students with Basic or Fundamental classes
Sign up for up to 2 classes
Class must be 100% completed, to receive credit.

Credit recovery will only be offered in-person @ John Burroughs HS. Credit recovery = I need to make up a class that I failed. Remediation for students in grades 9-12 who received an F grade in a class required for graduation.

Classes will be from June 8th through July 9th (Mondays through Thursdays) from 7:40am to 1pm with a 15 minute nutrition break. Each semester is 3 weeks long.
