Drawing & Painting
Students can enroll in up to four years of drawing and painting courses, exploring foundational visual creation techniques, and culminating in AP Studio Art. Courses build student portfolios, which showcase skill growth and creativity.
Art Structure 1 - This course will introduce students to the elements and principles of design, and the language of visual art. Students will create unique pieces of art while learning about their own aesthetics, the history of art-making, and contemporary art practice.
Art Structure 2 - Students who request to take this course without Art Structure 1 must show a portfolio that demonstrates traditional visual art skills, variety of media and strong composition in finished pieces.
Art Structure 3 - This advanced course guides students to create personal conceptual work, and begins preparations for the AP Studio Art portfolio.
AP Studio Art - Students will need a substantial quantity of high quality work for the AP Portfolio. Check with the instructor for summer work that will contribute to that goal.
