The Burbank HS Animation Program offers up to four years of sequential classes that build Animation related skills and provides experiences to broaden our vision and community.

Animation 1: An overview of the many ways of creating and an introduction to the animation pipeline. Students learn the design and storytelling basics, animation principles, sketchbook habits, and how to create animated shorts. All students begin in this class.

Animation 2 - Advanced Animation: Students specialize in longer, semester long projects, working toward personal interests and goals. Their culminating work is a more advanced animated short that captures their style and personal artistic voice.College credit opportunity through Glendale Collunity College.

Animation 3 - Entertainment Arts: Students in our third year explore how animation related skills are used beyond the story, such as game prototypes, 3d modeling, path-based and rigged animation, with a showcase final project that is utilized in their year end demo reel. And finally our seniors work on capstone projects that show their culmination of personal style and depth of concept.

We work in a beautiful studio with a full digital lab, sound studio and VR workstation. Physical media, filming sets and traditional arts complement our 2d and 3d skill building. We are supported by amazing opportunities from guest artists, and studio and college visits. Each year we have a select number of students work with the supportive and dynamic professionals in the Nickelodeon Mentorship Program. We enjoy sharing our talents with the school and community to bring beauty to spaces and events. And a fun bonus is celebrating our work in festivals and screenings. We enjoy creating, and most of all supporting each of our personal artistic journeys. If you enjoy drawing, storytelling, and designing, we hope you consider joining us!
