BHS Drama students win international award at Scotland's Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Burbank High School’s Drama Play-Pro class picked up international recognition this summer in Europe. The group of 18 students traveled to Edinburgh Festival Fringe, one of the world’s largest performing arts festivals, to perform the Greek tragedy, Hippolytus.

The play was full of a scintillating, live sound score and supreme acting, befitting one of the top acting programs in the nation.  With full audiences for every performance, Hippolytus was extremely well-reviewed and won an award for best ensemble work from the American High School Theatre Festival.  

KUDOS to drama teacher Donovan Glover, the families who helped fundraise for the two weeks in Europe and the now internationally award-winning BHS Play-Pro actors!  

In addition, actors visited the medieval Stirling Castle, pet (furry) Highland Cows, saw Moulin Rouge in London’s West End (akin to New York’s Broadway), and took an acting workshop in the Globe Playhouse.  After heading to Europe twice in the past 4 years, BHS Drama looks forward to taking another production to Edinburgh soon!
